Terms of Service

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms form an agreement between you and 이의석, the individual developer operating My Korean Boyfriends (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using My Korean Boyfriends, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live requires parent or guardian authorization for you to use an online service or consent to its data processing, you may use the service only after they have reviewed and authorized these Terms. If local law does not permit your use even with that authorization, you may not use the service. The service is not directed to children under 13. We may request reasonable confirmation of eligibility where permitted by law.

You select a broad age band (13–15, 16–17, or 18+) before your first conversation. We do not ask for your date of birth. This band is used to apply age-appropriate advertising, analytics, attribution, and safety controls.

2. Fictional service and AI output

My Korean Boyfriends is interactive fiction. All characters are invented adults. They are not real people, entertainers, romantic partners, therapists, or representatives of any person or organization. Similarities to actual people or events are unintended.

Editor-written openings may be followed by text generated through the OpenAI API using the configured gpt-5.6-luna model, from your choice or message, recent story context, and safety instructions. You direct a fictional adult protagonist; the service does not present an adult character as personally dating the real user. We ask for permission before sending story content to the AI provider. Generated text can be inaccurate, repetitive, inconsistent, biased, offensive, or unexpected. You should treat it as fiction, not factual information or medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice.

We may use automated safety systems and human review of reported content, but we do not guarantee that every output will meet your expectations. Use the in-app report control or contact euisuk97@gmail.com if an output appears unsafe or unlawful.

3. Your account

You may sign in through an available Apple or Google account. You are responsible for controlling access to your device and sign-in account, keeping your information accurate, and notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. You may not sell, transfer, share, or create an account for another person.

You can request account and associated-data deletion through Settings → Account → Delete account or the web deletion page. Deleting your My Korean Boyfriends account does not delete your Apple or Google account.

4. Rewarded ads, promotions, referrals, and story credits

The first character is free for each account, and each unlocked character includes its first 6 AI replies. After those included replies, you may choose to watch a rewarded ad. When the ad network verifies completion, we grant access to 3 new AI-generated scenes for that character. Those three scenes are available for one hour after the reward is granted. Each additional character unlocks separately with one completed, verified rewarded ad and remains available to that account.

• Watching an ad is optional, but a requested continuation or additional character may remain locked without the applicable verified reward.
• A rewarded-scene entitlement is a limited, in-service benefit. It is not money, cannot be withdrawn, traded, transferred, or redeemed for cash, and is not an investment or employment reward.
• You do not need to click an advertiser's link, buy anything, or install another app to receive a verified reward.
• Ads may not be available in every country, session, network condition, or device configuration.
• If scene generation fails after a verified reward, the applicable entitlement should remain available for retry. Contact support if the balance is incorrect.
• We may reverse credits obtained through manipulation, automation, invalid traffic, or an ad-provider error after reasonable investigation.

All three scenes granted by a verified rewarded ad normally expire one hour after the reward is granted and require an online signed-in session. This expiry applies to scene credits, not to a separately unlocked additional character. A duplicate or invalid reward callback does not create another entitlement. If generation fails after an entitlement is reserved, the service releases it for a bounded retry period rather than charging it twice. If verification remains pending, wait before watching another ad and contact support if it is not resolved.

While an ad network is preparing or ads cannot load, a temporary service policy may allow you to continue without watching an ad. When available, this assistance grants the requested character unlock or three scene credits, subject to server-verified account eligibility, usage limits and the displayed expiry. It is separate from an ad reward: closing or abandoning an available ad does not qualify. This temporary assistance does not promise unlimited, permanent or offline access, and may end when the assistance period expires or service conditions change. Generation safety and service-capacity limits continue to apply.

Some eligible accounts may be assigned once to a limited experiment. A conversion-milestone promotion can grant three ad-free scene credits that expire seven days after issue. That promotion is earned from verified service use, not from posting a store rating or review. We may later ask for an honest review through the operating system's native prompt, but we do not verify your response and your credit does not depend on opening, rating, or reviewing the app.

A referral offer can create a share link for an eligible signed-in account. If the link is automatically attributed to a genuinely new account and that person completes sign-up, onboarding, and a first generated story scene, each account can receive five promotional scene credits that expire after 14 days. A referrer can earn rewards for at most ten qualifying referrals per UTC calendar month. After that limit, a valid new account still receives its five credits, but the referrer receives no additional credits. Self-referrals, duplicate or existing accounts, automated activity, manipulated attribution, and other abuse do not qualify. Deferred-link attribution is not guaranteed, and we do not offer manual code entry, screenshot proof, or manual credit when automatic attribution is missing.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to:

• create, request, upload, or distribute unlawful content or sexual content involving a minor or a person presented as a minor;
• impersonate, exploit, threaten, harass, stalk, defame, or violate the privacy or intellectual-property rights of another person;
• submit sensitive personal information about another person without a lawful reason and authorization;
• bypass age, safety, reward, rate, geographic, or access controls; manipulate ad delivery; generate invalid traffic; or automate ad interactions;
• probe, scrape, reverse engineer, extract prompts/models, introduce malicious code, overload the service, or access another account, except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by law;
• use output to make high-impact decisions about a person, provide professional advice, train another model without authorization, or misrepresent AI output as verified fact; or
• commercialize the service or content in a way not expressly authorized by us.

We may limit, remove, preserve, or report content and suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people or the service, comply with law, or investigate abuse. Where required, we will give notice. You may appeal by emailing euisuk97@gmail.com with the subject My Korean Boyfriends appeal within 30 days of the decision; we aim to review a complete appeal within 30 days.

6. Your messages and feedback

You retain any rights you have in messages you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, limited license to host, copy, transmit, adapt, and process those messages only as needed to operate, secure, moderate, support, and improve the service as described in the Privacy Notice. Our processors may handle the content for those purposes.

You represent that you have the rights and lawful basis needed to submit your content. Do not submit confidential information or content that infringes another person's rights. If you send product feedback, you permit us to use it without payment or obligation, subject to applicable law.

We do not use private story messages to train our own general-purpose model or place them in a generalized product-improvement dataset. Optional product analytics excludes chat text. We may examine content you specifically report when needed for safety, support, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. The configured AI processor may retain limited content for abuse monitoring under its published API terms, as explained in the Privacy Notice. When live AI is enabled, we will not opt in to provider model training.

7. Our service and intellectual property

The app, software, editorial openings, original character system, branding, design, and other service materials are owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended entertainment purpose.

AI-generated output may not qualify for intellectual-property protection in some places, and similar output may be generated for other users. We do not promise exclusive ownership of output. Third-party names, marks, and ads remain the property of their owners and do not imply endorsement.

Send a copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights complaint to euisuk97@gmail.com with the subject My Korean Boyfriends rights complaint. Identify the protected work or right, the challenged content and its location, your contact details, the requested action, and a good-faith statement that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act. We may forward the notice to the affected user where lawful. A counter-notice should identify the removed content, explain the claimed mistake, include contact details and authorization, and be sent to the same address.

8. Changes, availability, and ending the service

We may update features, characters, AI providers, limits, supported regions, or ad availability. We may temporarily interrupt the service for maintenance, security, legal, or provider reasons. Where law requires, we will give advance notice of material adverse changes and preserve any mandatory remedies.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may terminate the service or your access for a material breach, safety risk, legal requirement, or discontinuation, subject to notice and appeal rights required by law.

9. Third-party services

Apple, Google, Supabase, OpenAI, Vercel, Google AdMob, AppsFlyer when referral attribution is activated, and advertisers may provide parts of the experience under their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for an advertiser's external site, product, or claim. Choosing an ad does not require you to visit or purchase from the advertiser.

If you downloaded the app from Apple App Store or Google Play, the applicable store terms also apply. If these Terms conflict with mandatory platform terms, the mandatory platform terms control to that extent.

10. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, a particular story outcome, ad availability, factual accuracy, or that all generated output will be error-free or suitable.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded in your country.

11. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, 이의석 and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of data, opportunity, profits, or goodwill arising from the service. Our aggregate liability will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50 if you paid nothing.

This limitation does not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, defective digital content remedies, or mandatory consumer rights. The greater protection provided by the law where you live controls over this section.

12. Governing law and disputes

Before filing a formal claim, contact euisuk97@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it informally. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver, or an exclusive foreign forum. Applicable law and the available court or consumer process are determined under mandatory conflict-of-law and jurisdiction rules.

Mandatory consumer protections and your right to bring a claim in an available local forum remain unaffected.

13. Updates and contact

We may revise these Terms. We will post the updated date and provide any additional notice or request renewed acceptance where required. If you continue using the service after an effective update, the revised Terms apply to the extent permitted by law.
